We charge $10 per unit of Botox, and so the average cost of frown lines is about $200-250, forehead lines about $120, and crow's feet lines about $120.
What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is a protein that occurs naturally in the body. It is able to gently relax muscles that it comes into contact with. The muscles relax for several months, and then gradually return to their original condition. The most popular use of Botox is to reduce frown and forehead lines. It is also often used to reduce the "crow's feet" lines of the eyes.
These lines can often make you look tired, angry, or older than you are. Patients often tell us that there friends or family find they look more relaxed or younger, but can't put their finger on what the difference is in the patient's appearance
BOTOX does not affect sensation, and there is no numbness. You can stop treatment whenever you wish: you will gradually return to your original appearance.
Doctors have been using Botox safely and effectively for over fifteen years in adults and small children, for a number of medical conditions. Botox is now the number one cosmetic treatment performed by Doctors in North America! It is also becoming an important therapy for excessive sweating, and for migraine or tension headaches.
How does Botox work?
BOTOX relaxes the specific muscles that cause wrinkles. As these muscles relax, the skin that covers them becomes smoother and less wrinkled.
Muscles treated with Botox usually start to relax within a few days, and reach maximum relaxation within two weeks. About 3-4 months after the first treatment, the effects gradually wear off. Since the majority of patients are happy with the results of their therapy, they return as the effects begin to wear off for another treatment.
If you have a second treatment before the treated muscles have returned to their old bad habits, your second treatment will usually last longer. If you continue to come for treatments, you will generally find that the effects last longer with each treatment, and some patients who continue treatment with Botox report that after 1-2 years they can go 6-12 months between treatments.!
Does Botox work for all kinds of wrinkles and skin folds?
Not all facial wrinkles are caused by the use of underlying muscles. Deep creases and folds are caused by sun exposure, by the natural aging, and by smoking. Many of these deeper wrinkles can be dramatically improved by combination therapy with Botox, and with a filler substance like Restylane or by a natural fat transfer. Laser resurfacing can also be very effective.
Does treatment with Botox hurt? How long does it take?
Treatments with Botox are gentle, and only takes about 10 -15 minutes. No sedation or local anesthetic is needed, and you go on with your usual activities right away.
Treatment takes about 15-20 minutes, and performed personally by Dr. Keller or Dr. Chan.
What should I do after my Botox treatment?
Don't rub the areas where Botox was injected for at least two hours. Try not to lie down for two to three hours. This is to reduce the chance that the Botox will spread to other areas, which we don't want to relax. This is unlikely, but if it happens, it would be only a temporary problem that would resolve in a few weeks.
In less than 1% of cases there can be a slight drooping of an eyelid, which is often not noticeable, but even when it is, it will usually resolve in a week or two.
What are the side effects of Botox treatment?
Currently, no long-term side effects, allergic reactions or health hazards related to Botox have been reported.
Who should NOT use Botox?
We do not treat pregnant women, women who are breast feeding, or those who are allergic to albumin. We ask you to complete a medical history prior to your treatment.
