Fees
Many private insurance plans will cover the cost of Botox for excessive sweating, and we would be happy to write them on your behalf.
For excess sweating of the armpits we charge $250, plus $5.00 per unit of Botox, so the typical total cost is $750, of which $500 is eligible for insurance coverage.
Botox Treatment for Hyperhidrosis
NOTE: It is important to rule out primary causes of hyperhidrosis, such as thyroid disease, menopause, and so on. We ask that you have had a recent check-up with your Family Doctor, to rule out these causes, which may require treatment.
Botox is unique among treatment for excessive sweating, since it acts to stop the sweating at its origin. Botox enters the specific sweat glands that are causing the problem, and blocks a chemical that is responsible for the excessive sweating.
Studies have shown that the vast majority of patients whose excessive sweating is described as severe, find that their sweating is reduced by over 80% with Botox treatment.
Generally, most patients are free of excessive sweating for about 6-8 months after a Botox treatment. As many as one third are free of excessive sweating for at least one year.
Botox is a safe, gentle way to control excessive sweating. There are other methods of treatment as well, such as anti-perspirants and surgery. But for those in whom the other methods are not effective or desirable, Botox offers a safe, long-lasting solution.
Armpit treatment is easy. No anesthetic is necessary. Both armpits can be treated at once.
After your Botox treatment, sweating decreases within a couple of days, and the maximum effect takes about a week or two. Botox is used to reduce your excess sweating to normal levels.
