Toronto Hapkido School
Toronto Hapkido (Hap ki do, Hapki-do) school located on the Danforth.
Hapkido (also written as hapki-do or hap ki do) is a Korean martial art developed for practical self defence. The literal translation of hapkido is "joining energy way".
Master Hwang In Shik started training in martial arts at the age of 13. He has starred in movies with the likes of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Bolo Yeung and more.
This 10th dan Toronto Hapkido teacher is now living in Canada and sharing his art with students from all over the world.

Hapkido was founded by Choi Yong Su (sometimes spelled Choi Yong Sool). He was born in the province of Chungcheongbuk-do it what is now known as South Korea. He was taken to Japan during their occupation of Korea when he was 8 years old. He returned to Korea after the second world war and began teaching his art at a brewery owned by the father of his first student Suh Bok Sub.
He first called his art Yu Sul (유술) or Yawara (柔) later changing it to Yu Kwon Sul (유권술(柔拳術)) and Hap Ki Yu Kwon Sul (합기유권술(合氣柔拳術)) and eventually hapkido. |
