Bennington Heights
Below the serene vastness of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, just west of Bayview Avenue, are the homes of Bennington Heights.
Bennington Heights is in close proximity to the ravine at Moore Park. Small and fairly isolated, this neighbourhood is a hidden gem within the sprawling metropolis of the Greater Toronto Area, sitting amidst the greenery of Bennington Park, the Don River Valley ravine, and Evergreen Gardens Park. Residents can shop at the local Leaside shopping district, while access to other parts of the city is by the convenience of the Bayview extension and TTC bus routes to St. Clair West subway station.
Mansions, modern and modest two-storey family homes, and cute bungalows – a wide array of homes exist in Bennington Heights. Whether built in the early 1900s or shortly after the second World War, all feature well maintained properties and enjoy touting one of Toronto's most exclusive addresses. As a result, real estate prices for the area can reach well over a million dollars.
Bennington Heights was named after the street formerly named Rosemount. In 1950, a public school was opened (still operating today) and adopted the name Bennington Heights, which soon became the name of the neighbourhood. Catholic and private schools also operate in the area.
