Online Pharmacy
Online pharmacies have had a tremendous increase in popularity over the past few years. Online pharmacies often offer lower prices and provide a convenient and confidential way to purchase prescription drugs online. However, there may also be potential risks to using an online pharmacy.
Risks
- Drugs may not be dispensed through a licenced pharmacist
- You may not be provided with drug information, such a side effects
- Your personal information may be at risk
- Hidden/additional fees may be included in the drug price
Before ordering your prescription medication through an online or mail-based pharmacy, be sure to verify that it is properly licenced to dispense drugs in your country or province. Third party references, such as PharmacyChecker in the United States can provide verification for you, but it may be best to investigate online creditentials on your own.
In Canada, pharmacies are regulated at the provincial level, and must be managed by a licenced pharmacist.
The National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) may provide more information about pharmacies. |
