Puzzle games are any games that demand its participants to solve a problem or matter using the medium presented. They can be played alone or with the cooperation of one or more partners, and tools or equipment may be required.
Normally, resolution is achieved through logical reasoning. In fact, it is commonly believed that accurate logical reasoning of any nature is a sign of intelligence. For this reason, puzzle games are considered a means by which to test a person's intellectual capabilities. They are also used as fun educational tools for students to improve their cognitive process.
Truly diverse, there are word puzzle games, mathematical puzzle games, and image based puzzle games such as illusions. They can take the form of a tangible object, be written on paper, played on the computer, or just expressed through verbal and non verbal communication. Depending on the level of difficulty and ability of the participant, puzzle games can be quite challenging to complete. They can also be frustrating, but once completed, most find that the sense of accomplishment that results is extremely personally rewarding.
Figure out where the next piece goes in a jigsaw puzzle. Recreate an image or see past the illusion in a visualization challenge. Solve the equation of a mathematical question. Catch the perpetrator in a mystery. Exercise your brain with puzzle games!
