Nail Care
Maintaining clean and healthy nails should be a part of any beauty care regiment. It is an important aspect of your physical appearance, but is often overlooked. Broken nails lined with grime are not professional, and can have an adverse affect on your personal life. Therefore, practicing nail care on a daily or weekly basis is necessary to maintain an overall attractive appearance.
The nail is comprised of keratin and amino acids, separated into different sections. The most important parts are the nail plate and lunula. The lunula is the bottom part of the nail nearest the cuticle. This grows into the nail plate, which covers the nail bed. Nail care focuses on the nail plate.
Nail care simply involves cleaning, cutting, and filing nails. First, cutting and filing should be done to shape the nails to a natural shape that will resist breaking. A rounded and slightly squared edge is recommended, achieved by filing in a single motion, rather than back and forth. This will prevent damage to the nail. Their length should be determined by their practicality and appropriateness.
The next step in nail care is cleaning. The nails should be cleaned properly. A wooden stick with a slanted edge can be used to remove dirt trapped underneath the nails, taking care not to push the dirt further underneath. Avoid using metal sticks, as they can be too harsh for the surrounding delicate skin.
The final step in a good nail care regiment is to wash the hands and let warm water run over the nails to clean. Dry the hands and apply moisturizer, lubricating the nails and fingers well to keep them from becoming brittle and weak.
Following these simple nail care steps will ensure healthy and attractive nails.
