Enlarged Pores
Enlarged pores can contribute to rough skin and an unappealing
complexion. Unfortunately, enlarged pores may be tightened,
but may never completely disappear. Worse, pores become
larger as we age, thus following a good skin care routine
can result in a better complexion, and keep enlarged
pores under control.
A common problem for those with oily skin, enlarged
pores often appear in the areas on and around the nose,
chin and forehead. They can also be hereditary, passed
down from your parents. Enlarged pores are not a common
occurrence for those with dry skin.
To target enlarged pores and minimize their size, avoid
harsh astringents and toners. These products can encourage
sebaceous oil glands to produce more sebum (oil) as
a reaction to their use. Instead, use products that
are gentle to your skin but are still designed for oily
skin. Exfoliate and cleanse the skin well to reduce
the amount of dirt and grime that may get caught in
enlarged pores. Doing so on a daily basis will also
prevent the formation of blackheads and acne. Skip the
use of moisturizers entirely, or in oily areas, such
as the T-zone (the area of the chin, nose, between the
eyebrows, and the forehead).
 Evidence
has shown that tanning leads to enlarged pores. Therefore,
when skin is exposed to the sun, a good sunblock should
be used.
