Dry Hair
If your hair is easily damaged, prone to split ends, and feels brittle, you most likely have dry hair. Dry hair may be the result of several factors, such as an unhealthy lifestyle, poor diet lacking vitamins and nutrients, or the usage of products containing ingredients too harsh for your hair.
However, beautiful, healthy hair is easy to attain if it's treated and maintained correctly.

Dry hair
should be washed with a gentle shampoo. Massage the
scalp to stimulate the follicles and loosen dandruff/dirt
that may be clogging the pores. This will allow sebum,
produced by the sebaceous gland, to be released from
the pores and hydrate each strand of hair. After massaging
the scalp, roll a clump of hair between your hands from
the root downward to the ends to cleanse properly. Rinse
thoroughly with warm water and follow with a conditioner
to remove all shampoo residue.
Shampoos containing moisturizers will supplement hydration insufficiently produced by the body. Look for shampoos and conditioners labeled for dry hair, containing omega 3 and lipids.
Once or twice a week, a deep hair treatment product can do wonders for dry hair. Hydrating and cleansing, your dry hair will love it!
Following your shower, dry hair should be dried with cool air (until slightly damp), or air dried. Hot air is to be avoided at all costs as it is extremely harsh to the hair, dry, normal or oily.
Use a soft brush for dry hair, taking care not to tug through knots. Brushing the hair from top to bottom will also stimulate the scalp and bring sebum down to the ends. |
